Given the fundamental scientific, social and political debate about the integration and inclusion of persons with disabilities, it becomes imperative to give the actions towards inclusion, done by parents, teachers, schools, services for disabled, etc. an academic basis, thereby lending the subject matter a credence worthy of its importance to the society.
This Intensive course aims to contribute to an intensive study of the experiences, backgrounds, motivation, strategies and main themes of the concept, given by experts of different countries and different disciplines, by parents and field workers, to a multinational audience of students from Spain, Italy, the U.K., Portugal, and Belgium.
The course will reflect a balance of 50 hour theory/practice (3 ECTS-credits), during 10 days, organised by the host University of Gent (Belgium) in collaboration with all the partner institutions. The host University will be responsable for student certification. The assessment will be designed (or graded) within the ECTS to allow students to gain credits for their participation and final assessment.
All participating universities are invited and offered 2 students places/university.
The location of the intensive programme will be the Sparrenduin-conference center in De Haan at the Belgian Coast, near the city of Ostend. The students will reside in full equiped appartments, where they can provide their own meals.
The participation for the course and the course materials are free of charge. The students have only to provide their travel expences and meals.
The students will have access (free of charge) to the different sports facilities such as swimming pool, bowling, squash, tennis, etc. At the center there are also facilities as a free flow restaurant, a bar, tea room.
For more information about this initiative, please contact the responsable professor at your university. As the number of students is limitated to 2 of each university, each coordinator of the different partner institutions will be responsable for the eventual selection of possible candidates for this course.
